About the competition
The Olympiad is an international event which promotes learning English language, challenges students around the globe to compete in English language knowledge and improves the co-operation between teachers. It is open to students 6 – 19 years old from the whole world. The Olympiad will be run in three rounds: preliminary round, semi-final round and final round.

The students are going to compete in 14 categories, (7) Regular categories and (7) special categories based on the Common European Framework (CEFR). They are going to take Gatehouse Awards exams.

Special categories are aimed at students who are considered bilingual according to the Hippo Olympiad regulations as well as for English/American international schools and the schools where the majority or all subjects are taught in English.

Subscription instructions

Students studying in pre-university education can be enrolled from 6 to 19 years old.

Participation in the name of the school the student is enrolled in.

The student is committed to the place and date of the test for which he will be nominated.

A registration fee of SAR 199 is required
Olympic stages
registration stage
(From January 1st to March 29th) Registration takes place on the website designated for the Olympiad.
Preliminary Stage
(first test) (April 9-10-11 2026) The Olympiad will be held online for all participating students.
The National Olympiad at the Kingdom Level
(Second Test) (May 7-8-9 2026) The Olympiad is implemented at the Kingdom level for students who qualify from the first stage.
The Regional Qualifier Stage - Azerbaijan
(June 22-23-24-25 2026) To be held in Azerbaijan (Baku), some students who qualify from the National Olympiad participate in this stage (the second test).
The Final stage - Italy
(October 12-13-14-15 2026) The top finishers who obtain high grades in the National Olympiad participate in this stage, in addition to the top finishers in the Regional Qualifier stage.
